One of the errors that users are experiencing when trying to update Windows 8 to Windows 8.1 is a blank black screen that blocks the installation process from completing and reverts the original files to Windows 8. Microsoft also yet to release a fix, It appears that everything comes down to video card drivers, Windows 8.1 might not be compatible with some older driver of your operating system.
For solution of such issue, download Windows 8.1-compatible drivers, regardless of the model you have. In safe mode, disabled the Intel graphic card in device manager and restarted the laptop in normal mode then downloaded :
Then everything worked fine and you have to notice that Intel(R)n HD Graphics 4000 and AMD Radeon HD 8800M Series.
If you have other Graphic cards than we mentioned so you may have to look after the latest version of their drivers in their official websites. Download those that work in Windows 8.1.
This doesn’t necessarily mean that the same steps could solve your installation problems too, but it is a good place to start in case you are getting the same black screen after deploying new Windows 8.1.
