Change drive icon in windows7, 8 and Ubuntu 12.10 (by notepad)

In window 7, 8 is by default same for each drive and looks monotonous. Now we are here to share a trick by which you which you can change your drive icon.

Why we need to change drive icon ?

It improve visual of your window
It can also represent that which type of files are available inside the drive(depend upon the icon you selected)
Make yourself to feel that you and your computer is different than other.

Few very interesting things about this trick are-

Is doesn’t required any software
Work with windows7, 8 as well as Ubuntu 12.10
It has ability to change the window icon( Icon of C drive)

Step-1
Open notepad in window7, 8

Step-2

Type

[autorun]ICON=Drive.ico

Step-3

Save as autorun.inf

Step-4

Copy and paste this file into drive(of which you want change the icon)

Step-5

Copy a .ico in same drive and rename it Drive. Now hide both files(.ico & .txt).

Step-6

Restart computer to see the effect (also you can rename the drive name to see the effect).
